UNIQUE GARDEN LESSONS FOR YOU

As The Ugly Gardener, I write stories for a local newspaper (Creston News Advertiser), a newsletter, and The Iowa Horticulturist magazine. I call these stories Unique Garden Lessons for You by The Ugly Gardener. Notice the acronym would be UGLY.

I write a story every two weeks. Most are about personal lessons I’ve learned. Some are humorous, some are educational, and most are humorous and educational. Many of the stories are about gardening or the outdoors, but some are not. Basically, I write about whatever I’m thinking about.

All end with a lesson (sort of the moral of the story is…). Once a serious lesson is stated, I write, “Or is it…” and pen a play on words of a common saying or just a humorous lesson.

You can read a few of my stories here. They are for your enjoyment only. Do not use them for publishing or distributing.

I’m looking to sell these humorous and educational stories. If you like what you read, talk to your local newspaper editor.
